The Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas, distributing millions of meals annually across 21 counties. As one of the largest Austin-based nonprofits and a member of the Feeding America Network, CTFB boasts a 4-star Charity Navigator rating. In response to the pandemic, the food bank distributed a record 64.5 million pounds of food, supporting nearly 300,000 individuals each month.
The Challenge
Following a recent re-org, CTFB’s CEO needed a VP of Marketing and Communications to be her right hand. The role had been vacant for over 6 months, and the Marketing team was in urgent need of a strong Comms leader to guide them.
However, the HR team hadn’t been getting the right caliber of applicants for the posted position, and they had engaged a local recruiting agency that wasn’t able to produce suitable candidates.
CTFB needed a talent partner that specializes in marketing and communications to find a dynamic senior communications executive who was local to the Austin area, had strong media relations and crisis communications skills, and could serve as the face of the food bank.
The Solution
We quickly got to work and implemented a highly targeted, multi-step recruiting campaign to engage large numbers of suitable candidates with the very niche skillset CTFB needed.
By crafting creative and compelling outreach messaging on LinkedIn to engage even the most passive candidates, we achieved a 52% response rate, more than double the average 18-25% response rate for LinkedIn inMails.
