The Challenge
Heading into Q3 2023, Redpoint’s long-tenured CMO had assumed an expanded role, which created the need for a new VP of Marketing to lead the marketing team day-to-day. An accomplished marketing recruitment partner was required to identify and hire a technology marketing leader with deep experience across all marketing channels, but with a particular specialty in demand generation strategy.
Other candidate requirements included:
- A high level of comfort working closely with an
- experienced C-level team, including the CEO
- Several years managing a small marketing team, as well as agency partners
- Experience marketing a customer data or marketing software product to the enterprise for a company at a similar stage (mature startup)
- Ability to work on-site one or two days a week
The Solution
In conjunction with developing a list of referrals from our network of tech marketing leaders, we executed a targeted, multi-step recruiting campaign to connect with candidates who had the precise experience Redpoint needed.
At the time, the tech industry was experiencing widespread layoffs, which made some candidates reluctant to consider a career move due to perceived risk of change. So, we had to get creative with our messaging to ensure we were engaging our top targets.
We worked closely with Redpoint’s CMO and owned each step of the hiring process, from candidate sourcing; screening; interview coordination, prep, and debrief; salary negotiations; and counter-offer prep, allowing the Director of HR to focus on other priorities.
