PAN is a leading, mid-sized integrated marketing and PR agency serving B2B technology and healthcare brands in the US & Europe. The firm has been recognized as a Tech Agency of the Year by PRovoke Media, and as one of America Best PR Agencies by Forbes.


The Challenge
PAN was experiencing significant growth in the second half of 2020. To manage this growth, the agency needed to hire PR account pros across levels on a consistent, rolling basis. Each hire had to have strong experience working with B2B tech or healthcare tech clients, proven success in media relations, and excellent client-facing skill – all non-negotiable requirements.
Beyond these parameters and tight hiring timelines, there were other recruiting hurdles to clear:
- Many PR agencies were hiring and competition for talent was fierce
- The pandemic-induced shift to fully remote work made many candidates reluctant to switch employers “virtually”
- PAN’s HR team had an effective hiring process, but lacked a dedicated Talent Acquisition Manager

The Solution
Our recruitment strategy hinged on high-volume, targeted sourcing and outreach. With already-low passive candidate response rates even lower due to recruiter-fatigue, we executed high-volume, multi-touch, sequenced outreach. With unique, candidate-centric messaging, we optimized response rates, while highlighting the benefits of a career at PAN.
In tandem, we leveraged our PR network for referrals, while also enlisting PAN’s Vice Presidents (and C-level executives) to personally engage with candidates at all stages of the hiring process.

The Results
We quickly developed and sustained a robust candidate pipeline, generating, on average, 47 initial candidate screens that resulted in 18 client-candidate interviews each month (across all open roles).
Serving as an extension of PAN’s HR team, we managed candidates throughout the entire recruiting process, from interview debriefs to reference checks to salary negotiations and counter-offer prep.
